Why Choosing UK-Made Craft Kits Matters

Why Choosing UK-Made Craft Kits Matters

At Let's Make & Do, we're incredibly proud to design, make and hand-finish our craft kits here in Cheshire.

In a world where so many products are mass-produced and shipped across the globe, we've chosen a different approach. Keeping as much of our production as possible here in the UK allows us to work closely with trusted suppliers, finish every kit by hand and create products we're genuinely proud to put our name on.

As more people think carefully about where the products they buy come from, choosing UK-made craft kits is becoming increasingly important. Here's why it matters to us.

Designed, Made & Hand Packed in Cheshire

Every Let's Make & Do craft kit is designed, assembled and hand packed in our Cheshire studio. Every order is packed by me, with a little help from family when things get especially busy.

Being involved in every stage means I can keep a close eye on quality, test new ideas and continually improve our kits based on customer feedback. It's a much more personal way of working, and one that allows every kit to leave the studio exactly as intended.

Working with UK Suppliers Wherever We Can

Whenever possible, we choose to work with UK manufacturers and suppliers.

Our laser-cut wooden characters are produced by a specialist manufacturer just over an hour from our Cheshire studio, allowing us to work closely together to achieve the quality and finish we're looking for.

We also use UK-manufactured, non-toxic, water-based acrylic paints in our kits, carefully chosen to be suitable for children's craft activities.

Of course, not every component we use is currently available from UK suppliers, and some materials are sourced further afield. Wherever there's a high-quality UK option, though, that's always our first choice.

Thoughtfully Produced Packaging

As we continue updating our range, more and more of our craft kits are moving into our new cardboard packaging.

Our cardboard boxes are printed here in the UK and made from 100% recycled board. They're fully recyclable and biodegradable printed using eco friendly toners. They are produced by a manufacturer that uses renewable energy, operates a zero-waste production process, responsibly sources its materials and is proudly employee owned.

Transitioning an entire product range takes time, but it's a change we're really proud to be making, and one that's helping us reduce plastic across our range.

Why It Matters

For us, manufacturing in the UK is about making thoughtful choices.

Working closely with local suppliers wherever possible gives us confidence in the materials we're using, allows us to develop new products more easily and helps us maintain the quality we're known for.

Most importantly, it means every kit is hand finished before it reaches your door. We pack components and check every order before it's dispatched, every kit receives the care and attention that simply isn't possible with mass production.

More Than Just a Craft Kit

When you choose a Let's Make & Do craft kit, you're supporting a small independent business that's passionate about inspiring creativity through hands-on play.

Every decision is made with quality, creativity and longevity in mind.

Whether you're looking for a unique children's craft kit, a thoughtful gift, a screen-free activity or a creative rainy-day project, we hope our kits inspire children to slow down, get making and discover the joy of creating something with their own hands.

Thank you for supporting our small business, it really does mean the world to us!
